Lens on life
Ed van der Elsken (1925–1990) is regarded as the most important Dutch photographer of the 20th century. Camera in Love, a retrospective of the philanthropist’s works, is on at the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam from February 4 to May 21.
London’s Tate Modern is showing a retrospective of the work of Italian painter and sculptor Amedeo Modigliani (1884–1920), whose unique style found little favor in his lifetime. His main subject: the human form (here The Little Peasant).
Erol Sarp and Lukas Vogal, aka Grandbrothers, create something new and extraordinary when they mix contemporary piano music with electronic sounds. The experimental duo are performing their second album, Open, in Frankfurt (Dec 3) and Hamburg (Dec. 15).
