Culture clash
Wedding season is upon us and it’s time to say: “I do.” People celebrate the (often) best day of their life in different ways – as these three brides reveal.

In Japan, a bride often wears three wedding gowns: a white kimono for the traditional ceremony, a white dress for the ensuing celebration and a colorful robe for later on in the evening.
In Norway, brides wear a magnificent crown with metal pendants attached. When the newlyweds dance, they try to make as loud a jingling noise as possible – to drive off evil spirits.
A bride in France will auction off her garter to the highest bidder at the wedding. Guests bid as she slowly raises her hem, and when the garter is revealed, the highest bidder so far gets the prize.
