On a tiny island in the Indian Ocean, twelve tables await fine diners. The tide decides how you get there – on foot or by boat
Fresh fish served straight to the table – where else could this promise ring truer than at The Rock? Roughly five years ago, Nigel Firmann, the proprietor, wrested from local fishermen a small rock just off- Michanvi Pingwe Beach on Zanzibar and set up a small, exclusive restaurant there. He now serves noon and evening meals consisting of lobster, king prawns and an exquisite “catch of the day” to mostly well-heeled tourists. Boat rides are free.
