Her ballads unite grand emotions with the lightness of bossa nova: In a stroll along the beach, the young singer Bianca Chami speaks about her music and the Brazilian way of life
Without sorrow and a broken heart, Bianca Chami would perhaps never have become a musician. She needs heartache to compose, she overcomes her lovesickness in her lyrics. Originally, she dreamed of becoming an actress and studied drama in England. Then she started writing: not novels or poems, but short pieces, intense and full of rhythm. Bianca Chami realized that she had written song lyrics.
Chami describes her lyrics as confronting a broken heart with irony. The young singer from Rio de Janeiro combines several different Brazilian music styles and coats her romantic songs about love and sorrow in the lilting lightness of the bossa nova’s four-four time.
