Aviation technician

has been working with Lufthansa Technik in Hamburg for ten years

“I’m mounting a panel bearing Lufthansa’s new logo. The airline recently revamped its design and the world-famous crane is now white against a blue background. A total of approximately 290 passenger aircraft will suc-cessively be repainted. And, of course, the new logo needs to be visible on the inside of the plane as well. A colleague and I are currently exchanging all the relevant panels in the cabin of a Boeing 747-8 – a job that I usually complete in one shift. Compared with many of the other things my colleagues and I from the interior shop are usually asked to do, this is relatively easy. Sometimes we have to produce new floor panels, other times we lay carpet or install new seats. We’re also often called upon to repair small dents that can occur when a passenger knocks their case against the cabin wall. These things happen, and a little bit of polyester plaster is all it takes to remedy the situation.”
