Boeing 737-500

A powerful midget

The Boeing 737-500 was used in a hopper function on less heavily frequented routes. Its 31 meters overall length and seating accommodation for 120 passengers also make it the smallest classic-version 737 jet flying with Lufthansa. Only Lufthansa’s regional jets have smaller capacities. Its big sister, the 737-300, also in service with Lufthansa, flies both short- and medium-haul routes. Boeing introduced the original 737 in 1967 and has been developing and updating it ever since. The 737 – in all its generations and versions – is said to be the most successful commercial passenger aircraft family in the world. October 2016, we came to the end of an era, when the Boeing 737 retired after 48 years of faithful service in the air.
