In their heyday in the late 1950s, some 4000 drive-in theater existed in the U.S. Only about 300 have survived, one of them being the Bengies in Middle River, Maryland. Sporting vintage design and the biggest screen in the country, it is trying hard to keep the tradition alive in its 64th year.
The Bawah Reserve in the Anambas Archipelago, Indonesia, is a desert island of luxury some 300 kilometers northeast of Singapore. Visitors stay in bungalows that appear to be suspended over the reefs, surrounded by exotic fish an turquoise waters of the lagoon.
Silvio Pfeufer wants to create culinary works of art typical of Berlin. Last March, he succeeded the adventurous but controversial Michelin-starred Andreas Rieger as chef of the einsunternull restaurant in Berlin’s Mitte district. At Pfeufer’s restaurant, guests are served a seven-course meal consisting of his interpretations of traditional German dishes. The restaurant’s own pastry shop delivers the fitting desert.
Rob Woodcoy, an American fine artist and photographer, is also a man on a mission. His montages, centered on the human figure, tell stories and convey how diverse we are as individuals. He runs photography workshops, too – including one in northern California this month.
