Shaken or stirred?


One of the world’s best bars lies only a stone’s throw away from Hamburg’s city hall, Le Lion – Bar de Paris. Guests have to ring the bell and with a bit of luck are welcomed in by owner Jörg Meyer himself.

The bar’s interior and atmosphere are as classic as the drinks served by the host. “A bar, especially a classic bar, isn’t the place for fads”, says Jörg Meyer with confidence. You won’t find Aperol Spritz or Vodka-Red Bull on his menu. The mixologist prefers perfectly prepared classic recipes. There’s one fad, however, he has created himself: The “Gin Basil Smash”, which has become the bar’s signature drink.
