Waterfront delights
London’s Docklands are one example, Hamburg’s Hafencity, another: Large cities redevelop unused harbor areas, turn them into new districts and try to fill these with life. The planners of the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront in Cape Town have done an excellent job of harmonizing old and new, for instance at the exquisite Cape Grace Hotel with its Signal Restaurant where guests are treated to traditional Cape Malay dishes.
